Only ever hunted waterfowl and game birds, total newfag when it comes to deer, but I'm aiming to bag one for the first time in the 2022 season.
I bought a savage axis 2 in .270, and wife bought me a game cam for christmas. I have 50 acres of my own land that I've spotted lots of does and fawns on, and the odd buck. I'm planning to build a permanant shooting shack/blind about 15 feet up in a big maple just inside a treeline that overlooks about 1500' of field and riverbank. Am allowed to hunt over bait here, when is a good time to start baiting? Any other tips, tricks or advice for a deer shooting newfag besides sit and wait or something simple I might not be thinking of? I'm probably overthinking it, they're like sitting ducks.
