When/where/why do you use a bivvy? I've only camped with an old MSS, the army bag, so I've typically had the summer or winter bag connected to the bivvy that comes with it. It's a good insulating layer and obviously keeps you dry, what use would I have in upgrading, do you think? I just recently bought a Marmot bag on sale, trying to upgrade my warmth and downgrade my weight, and I'm wondering if I can repurpose my woodland bivvy, or if it's worth it to grab something like pic related.
For reference, I've been having fun camping with tarp setups the past few weeks, the lingering 50 degree weather has been great. There's snow now and it's got me thinking about upgrading, but I'm not sure where to go from here.
