Used it as my primary bag when abroad, hiking and camping with it hasn't been a problem at all either. It's a bit on the smaller side though, which is great for moving through crowds in an urban setting, and it does cut on weight for hiking, but it doesn't carry as much. Since durability is a priority OP I would second what this guy says, look at Maxpedition's options and you'll find a good durable backpack for day to day, and it'll last you forever.
