Yep, it works as advertised: it has a powered USB 2.0 port, and will charge anything USB compatible. It is heavy though, and you must continuously feed the fire. I didn't buy it because I thought it would be useful in the field, but I did want to experiment with it, and I have used it successfully on a couple camping trips.

The stove must be running at full blast to produce usable power, yes. But the charging time depends on your device. Does it take 6 hours to charge your device when plugged into a USB port on your computer? Then the stove will take that long, too. I boiled water in a tea kettle on mine, and in the time it took to finish two cups of tea, my old Android phone charged by 10%.
