Well fellas, it may not have the same ambiance as a traditional wood stove, but I think the way to go for your innawoods retreat would be the rocket mass stove. Not only will you burn 1/4 of the wood as you do with a normal wood stove, the nature of it burning small fuel means you can just have a small number of coppiced trees that'll produce wood that you simply cut and don't have to bother splitting.
