>>1237919It doesn't necessarily need to be big. Those military radios are beefy as fuck I don't doubt you could run one over with a truck and it'd be fine. Amateur radios are a different story however. Take a look at the Elecraft KX2. A little bigger than one's hand. You would need a separate antenna though, and possibly a tuner and other accessories depending on your setup. It's more involved than just turning into a channel on an HT.
