>>396686>>410580>>410622>>410739>>410747OP again. Still in Pennsylvania, I just got out of the hospital yesterday--I gave myself rhabdo in the weight room (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exertional_rhabdomyolysis, my creatine kinase levels were way over nine thousand, pic related). I was going to leave on Saturday, but was pissing brown (not dark yellow, BROWN) and figured I should have my kidney's looked at before sitting in a car for 24 hours and starting a manual labor job. Everything should be good now, though, and my new boss was super chill about the delay, so I still have a job and will be working my first shift 7am on Monday. If any of you are medically inclined, I have a stack of lab results where there's some neat stuff going on that we can talk about.
I'm looking at getting a 2005 Ford Escape with under 80k miles from a dealership. The ticket price was $7k, he said he'd give it to me for $6k, but as the paint is chipping and it has signs of past rust issues (and the bottom is kind of flaky), he might be willing to let it go for less. I believe he legitimately hadn't noticed the bulk of the pain chipping, as it was on the top of the vehicle and I am 6'1" and he is not. The only issue I found with the vehicle was paint and rust, everything else seemed fine (printed out /o/'s guide to buying used cars and had my Dad, who has a bit of self-taught mechanic experience, take a look at it).
There's also a cheap used Jeep Grand Cherokee from a private seller that's leaking some fluids (coolant, and transmission and/or power steering fluid), but without having the time to figure out where all the leaky bits are before buying it, I really shouldn't risk it for such a long trek.
I leave either Friday or Saturday morning. I'll keep you all posted on my adventures.
