>>2017006I see abandoning the BSA as being defeatist. Just like fleeing America itself for being too left-wing would be defeatist. The same way leftists crept their ideas into every facet of America over the course of 50 years, we can do the same in defiance. Leaving means we have no better ideas to beat them with.
Think about social media: when conservatives get deplatoformed, they often try to make their own media platforms to little effect. Same goes for Scouts. "Just make your own Boy Scouts!" isn't is winning strategy.
My troop celebrated its 90 year anniversary a few years before I aged out. They're set to celebrate 100 years pretty soon, they were founded in 1923. I know if I was still in, I wouldn't condemn the entire troop if a few girls joined, or if a muslim joined, anything like that. History supersedes the faults of the present.
Lastly, to win back the BSA, we would need to get conservative or christians into the Board of Directors. That means men like us need to step up, lead in our troops, get into council positions, and work our way up to national. Then we can restore the BSA to its former glory. That's how we can win. It will take time.
