Of course, like every person with a name on the internet, he gets some hate, but I've actually never really seen any valid argument to discredit him, apart from some people saying they have better ways to do things than he does, or prefer some gear that he apparently hates, which is often more subjective than anything. It's okay to disagree with him, but I like how he justifies his hate: at least you can see by yourself if you can agree or not, unlike other reviewers who hate but don't say why.
But still I've only watched a couple vids of him on which I randomly stumbled on while searching information on various subjects, and he appeared to be well informed, and talking from experience more than from gearfagging and learning from websites; he's actually the kind of guy to review a product after having hauled it up a mountain and used it for weeks or months. And what is more important, he tests quite a ton of gear; even if you don't like his reviews, you can't ignore the differences he highlights between different pieces of gear, something many reviewers lack: enough reviews to draw contrast.
Well he does like to hear himself talk apparently, and his videos can drag on for quite long, which would be the only downside I've found so far. Now I'm only interested in outdoors stuff, which kinda excludes guns and anything gun related. I've heard bad things about that, but I couldn't comment on it.
