Diawa BG is about as cheap as you can get a true high quality saltwater spinning reel. As for rods, that's personal preference. Okuma makes cheap things that work ok, personally I'm a fan of fenwick rods. Just get something that feels good to you and suits your purpose. Ocean kayaks tend to be longer than freshwater. You have two options, sit in or sit on. The sit on tops generally are more geared towards fishing. Get a wide one. Use plastic totes or milk crates secured to your yak. As far as depth finders go, nothing beats the garmin striker series. Go ahead and get a navionics subscription too while you are at it as you'll need to spend a few hundred to get one that loads charts. Oh also pedal kayaks are nice to have. Still bring a paddle but it's so helpful.
