Had a friend who worked at Patagonia. He told me in the UK the most commonly sold colour for their clothes is black, followed by drab. How bleak!!
I used to be a stereotypical /out/ist dressed in 99% milslurp and called anything that didn't look like it came from Varusteleka "neon clown poser shit" as I stomped around in boots and a backpack looking like I wanted to be in the SAS.
Well, a few years ago I went through a few depressing personal events and I decided to stop surrounding myself with sour-faced elitists and cynics, stop living in a dark moody flat and stop judging people for wearing "normie" fun colours. I looked at all the photos of me and I saw this miserable guy dressed in drab clothes, and I realised it was time for a change.
now I wear stuff that matches my frame of mind, and most of the time when I'm out you'll catch me in bright orange trail runners, pink fleece, blue shorts and a lime green windbreaker. I don't think my outfit is obnoxiously ruining the experience for anyone else, i don't care if someone judges me for it and I haven't met anyone who seems to mind (or has the stones to say they do). I swear people light up a little when they see me coming. I certainly get a lot more friendly interactions, and I feel much happier, even in howling winds and lashing rain I just put on my orange tromping shoes and get out.
