buy a tacklebox kit usually can get one for like $30 and it comes with everything you really need. and just learn how to tie a simple knot. then find somewhere popular near you and rig up your rod simply with a sinker and hook (pass the line through the sinker multiple times to keep it in place then tie your hook with a UNI knot (very simple and hasn't gone wrong by me yet. and just throw it out. I started fishing on my own at like 15 and I just kind of figured it out. from there just start looking up rig guides and experiment with your own rigs and shit. there's no wrong answer as long as you have a hook in the water.
basically don't over think things and imitate things you see other fishermen doing and learn how to do a uni knot,
