>>479914>What about shoes without those things, but with semi thick cushioning? >>>472914 (OP)>OP you should check out Altra footwearI have tried Altra. In my opinion they have the best wide toe box of any shoe, and a thick stack despite being zero drop. However the sole is "natural foot shaped" not flat, so it acts as an arch support, and feels uncomfortable on my right foot there my toe ligament, (or whatever that thick cord between the heel and toes is)
sticks out below my arch.
>>479918 Currently wearing the Spyridon VFF most of the time, which seems to be the thickest. I learned that they were half off because its not the most recent "mud racing" model. They're designed for hiking and trail running, but have the most protection/cushioning for pavement walking too.
2 shoes I will look into this week are zero drop Merrell bare access and Inov8. They make barefoot like shoes, but also some models with thicker stack height.
When I bought my first barefoot shoes last December I tried on one of the Glove models, but immediately put it back because it felt like it had arch support. Did some more research and learned its just the way the midsole wraps around the foot, like a glove, but doesn't provide any support, won't notice it after you break them in.
