you are carrying less clutter and stuff in front of you because your air-pocket is on your back and
you'll use less air because diving is easier and way more relaxed (more horizontal, less water-resistance and less trying to gain balance).
Also its easier to upgrade this equipment since its just - you know - a backplate and a Donut-wing.
And IF you need to be cut out of any dumb emergency, you'll only lose the straps and not the whole jacket.
And its durable as heck. You can walk over the backplate and it won't make even a dent. Survives a lot of abuse.
Good wings have very strong layers, so you couldn't even cut it open if you really wanted to.
