I've gotten spooked a couple times innawoods. The best thing you can do is just take your time and keep your eyes and ears open. If you start panicking you have a much higher chance of hurting yourself or getting lost.
If you start feeling the fear concentrate on your breathing and try to identify if there's any actual threats in the area.
