So my job in real estate is going to turn me into a Stephen Paddock if I don't take a break. I've decided to plan a DIY fly fishing trip for the near future (within the next year) to catch some saltwater species. I realize that no matter where I go it is going to be tough to simply wet wade for fish. What I need to know from /out/ is what are the best places in the states to do this? Right now my eyes are on the corpus christie (Matagorda/aransas) area of texas area as well as the titusville area (Indian River) of midflorida. I'd like to camp for about a week and a half, probably hire a guide one day to get a lay of the land, and the rest will be just me going solo. I'd like to actually get a shot at target species (reds, snook, specks, and even baby tarpon if available). I'd also completely be up for catching jacks, small sharks, ladyfish, et al. I've never been saltwater fly fishing but I am a very adapt caster and comfortable pushing myself. This won't be easy and that is why I'm doing it. So /out/ tell me where I should plan to go and give me some tips on getting into some fish. Other than the guided day I will be wading. I've always been a trout/bass guy so tell me what I need to know
