>>414718I feel like humans could fish a species to extinction before we'd ever force an adaptation in size resulting from targeting the largest specimens. Not to say we wouldn't see an decrease in average size during the process, I just don't believe it would be the result of a natural adaptation.
>>414761Keep the number for your DNR, Park Police, Wildlife Management or equivalent in your cell phone. Nothing wrong with reporting people for using illegal techniques/tackle, keeping more than the limit, and so on. Fuck'em for being unsportsmanlike and ruining things for the next generation. I get a fucking hard-on when DNR comes along checking permits at my usual spots. When Maryland's AWB was about to go into effect and everybody was panic-buying our officers stopped by the local outdoor range a few times. There were so many citations issued to morons too cheap to pay the $5 for a day-use pass (or $20/yr at most any Wal-Mart or sporting goods store in the state).
>>416423I grew up watching Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston and Roland Martin. They were the bass-fishing trifecta for the longest time. A handful of people give Jimmy shit for his product endorsements but that comes with the job (never heard anybody hate on drivers for their auto-racing sponsors). Plus he's a genuinely nice dude.
Anyway tomorrow will be my first time fishing back in Maryland since returning from PA. Not sure what waters I'll try yet. Hope Raystown didn't spoil me too much.
