>>593282I just wrote another wall of text, but accidentally.
for fly kits I have a Martin 5/6 weight with a Martin rod I got from mardens for 15 bucks, I use a floating line and a 9ft tippet, bought this kit for American Shad with shad darts in a tidal river, and mackerel off jetties with streamers. Best 15 bucks I've ever spent, truly has withstood some brutal fishing. I gave this to my girlfriend as she wanted to learn to fly fish. We now mostly fish with the fly rods in the Maine river system, for bass/trout/salmon, and use them from our canoe in the early mornings.
I got myself another Mardens special, a Martin Caddis Creek 9ft 5/6 weight, it was 10 bucks how could I turn that down! Picked up a Cortlandt LTD Graphite 80 on craigslist for about 15 bucks, I use this kit more than any other and have even caught a few schoolie stripers with it.
I went expensive with my surf kits, as they receive the most beating, and I use them almost daily. Got a great deal on my fly rods, which have been seeing more and more action lately due to my girlfriends interest in learning to cast, and her love for rivers and her canoe, the rhino is just a piece of shit that I bought for crankbaits, and other freshwater lures, and the occasional shad. I have a bunch of classic rods and reels too that I don't really use but sometimes I'll pull them out for nostalgia. [it's fun to fight shad on a telescopic copper pole made in the 30's]
I can show you guys my go-to flies, plugs, and fresh water kits if you want.
