Majority of those apps either is for HongKong protests (relies on mesh of many phones with it) or if even connecting directly... they require intwrnet connection for you to register, then sends messages either text or sound files. This one isn't. A work of advice: the older the smarphone the shorter the range. This app surely won't replace handheld radio (shortwave or walkie-talkie) but it weights nothing and costs nothing. I've downoaded android install file frov developer's website and have it on sd cards. In case power goes down it can br installed on as many phones you want by just inserting the card. Tested myself fow few phone brands, older android versions.
