>>386346Well that's a pretty vague question as it depends on what you'd want to catch, what sort of fishing you think you'd like to do and how much money is cheap?
Most tackle shops will sell cheap fishing sets consisting of rod, reel and line for around £20. Obviously these are cheap and pretty piss poor quality wise, but when I first started fishing I owned a few of these sorts of sets and they work OK, if you break them then they are cheap as shit to replace. I still have a couple of the reels that came with the rods so I guess they aren't as crappy as they look.
After a while I started getting a bit more into fishing and started buying £15 rods and splashing out on £15 reels too the quality difference is much better. Last rod and reel I bought was a £65 rovex carbon rod and a £45 rovex reel to be honest there doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference from the previous set up.
At the weekend I snapped the end eye off my rovex rod due to general wear I think so I'm thinking of buying a new posher rod. I'm quite tempted by the savage gear range as I do a lot of lure and rock fishing.
My local shop has the savage gear salt water lure rod set up with reel and braid for around £70 and it looks really smart. That'd be well worth a look and a very nice set up for a beginner.
