Something like pic related ( https://www.sony.com/electronics/radios/icf-p26#product_details_default ) but with rechargeable battery and more rugged.
Currently using the baofeng uv5-ra+ but the speaker quality sucks and the 1800mah battery lasts about 8h in winter.
The evenings are long and there's something very comfy about watching the fire and listening to some am talk radio in the middle of the woods.
