In lower light conditions it does struggle. If you're used to a cameraphone and its quality (or lack thereof), this is about on par with the camera on my Droid.

The 1/4-20 thread on the bottom is nice. Gives you a lot more options for mounting (tripod mount, or get a shoe-to-1/4-20 adapter and put it on top of another camera. Had the Roam on a gorillapod wrapped around a trail marker pole.
