Sure rain can make your trip worse, but with proper equipment and if it's not too cold, hiking while it rains is a very comfy experience in my opinion.
The smell of the forest when it rains, the way the fog seems to swallow up most noise other than your footstep, the animals you run across, it all makes the forest feel mysterious but also strangely welcoming.
Bonus if you managed to pack your tent just before it started to rain, so you don't need to worry about wet shit in your backpack.
