I've always wondered about combining old windmills with the omnidirectional designs of today. Seems as though it would just be a couple sprockets on a swivel, but I have a feeling it would damage itself while turning.
I was thinking rubber because it's easier and safer to manipulate than plastic, but wiring is a big concern. I know of 15yo bikes where cheap wiring is fucking up the works.
More /out/ than /diy/, how would you participate in remaining society after the initial turmoil?
If it happens before I can afford to set up my homestead-lite I'm going to have to go full mountain man. Bring exotic smoked fish, game, furs, and charcoal down the river. Not sure what to trade for, aside from goats and metal, but the Christian thing to do is share my surplus regardless.
