Anyway, we need to get her a fly rod. I own a 9 and 7 weight. My 7 weight is a TFO BVK 9 footer with a Lamson Liquid reel and a rio grande line and I just don't trust her to use it yet because I'm kinda poor and I suspect she will break it at some point. My 9 weight is simply too much to handle for her and she will mainly be doing freshwater anyway. We live on the Texas coast. I want to get her a 5 weight but also feel like if she wants to try saltwater she will end up snapping it on a red or speck. I need rod/weight recommendations. Would you guys be confident enough in a 6 weight in salt marshes?
