It doesn't have the elevation, snow, or dramatic exposed rock that other places do, but Laos has incredibly striking mountain landscapes. The shape and layout of the mountains there is completely different from anywhere else I've been; you don't get predictable ridges and distinct volcanic peaks, it's all just a mess of jumbled chaos in all directions around you. Hard to explain the effect in pictures but the feeling of being there is very alien and extremely cool.
