>>1273193>>1273191>>1273184>>1273175you're all thinking of pop environmentalism that is not much more than normies who dont care about much taking pride in some value they have whenever they see a petition on facebook. I wouldn't call them environmentalists. These days there is so little environment to protect that it all exists within the political sphere (which is for some reason divided across partisan lines in America). Further, most people ere on the side of the environment unless they have been convinced not to for some other reason (DUDE free market). Finally, a lot of progress was made in the 1900s (again at least in America) protecting the environment and these days it's mostly elected officials quietly rolling back environmental policies or some giant corporation swallowing up some small forest somewhere and the only thing environmentalists can do is try to motivate the masses into signing individual petitions for every small battle.
The only debate that isnt a small minority fighting against industry giants for scraps is the global warming debate, which has become a debate of politics and not the environment.
I highly recommend the book 'Wilderness and the American Mind' by Frazier Nash, even if your not American, if your at all interested in the history on conservation and environmentalism.
