Non-circulating hydroponics, in my opinion, is mainly for plants that can finish their life-cycle with the nutrient solution that is added at the beginning of the grow. My lettuce and spinach I grew never needed refilled. The peas and beans needed some nutrients added from time to time. When something like tomatoes are really taking off, they will guzzle as much as a gallon a day or more when it's hot. Rather than switch to a different system, I've started piping the buckets together so they share nutrients, and adding a large reservoir to the group for plants I have growing in the smaller buckets. Plants growing in large tubs I just check once a week and add a few gallons of solution.
