For housing I always thought of something like this. <200 sqft so no permits needed and the porch is 328 sqft of storage and a general hang out spot. Itd be perfect for a single person or a couple because in reality all you're gonna do is cook and sleep in it, the rest of the time will be spent gardening or whatever. There's no bathroom in it because I think a single bath house with toilets and showers for all the homesteaders would be more cost effective. Why run more than 1 septic tank? Shits expensive.
