>>1970376that particular bass i caught on a 4 weight. i'd say it kinda depends. any rod in the 4, 5, and 6 weight department would be good for bass that size, and i would tell you to use those for them first and decide what you want from there. usually if im catching bass like that im not inherently fishing for bass, im using a small streamer in the 1-2 inch range and looking for crappies, bluegills, other sunfish, etc and a fish like that is more towards the upper end of what i expect to catch. if i was going to set out for bass specifically i'd run a 6 weight because a fish this size is going to give me plenty of bend, but casting dumbell eyes and poppers all day will be easier with the heavier line. i also prefer to have slightly heavy gear for bass because i like to cast two feet in to the bullshit and start my presentation and want to be able to convince the fish that he doesn't want to be in that log jam, rock pile, weed bed, etc
