>>1230621I'm not a fan of bright colors as well but if you'd hike for a day in a hilly terrain for few days straight you start to appreciate the lightness of your shoes a lot. Even for a shorter hikes it's just way better. I mean these high shoe do not offer any sensible advantage in my opinion.
I'd recommend purchasing something with sole tough enough to get you through the terrain you're going to hike the most. The softer the sole is the lighter the shoe, but you kind of need a bit stiffer sole if you'd move into more rocky terrain so that your feet don't get tired that fast.
I own a pair of Zamberlan Parrots and I'd gladly get a new pair of some La Sportiva's but they just won't wear down I believe I hiked around accumulative 4-5 months in them in alpine type terrain in the last 5 years. I don't think they sell them anymore but there's this Scarpa Mojito shoe that looks pretty much the same.
