Are Bayliners good boats?
I was at a sporting goods store and they had a rep there trying to sell boats. Was weird for this time of the year but I guess because of black Friday.
Anyways, they qualified me for a 15 year loan on an Element F18 at $187 a month. I pay more than that in cell phone and internet. I got on the boat (while it was sitting on a trailer in the parking lot) and it was very comfy. When I got home I viewed some videos of it on YouTube and it seems to drive well on the water.
I did some Google and Bayliner as a lot of mixed reviews. My main pet peeve is that I cannot stand fiberglass boats. You can't take them anywhere really to fish without getting stress fractures from bumping into timber or dragging through sandy bottoms. I have a small used aluminium boat that can take a beating and it's lasted 7 years. I've always considered fiberglass boats cruising boats and cringe whenever I see them marketed as fishing boats. But I did read some good reviews from some fishermen on forums owning Bayliner boats.
Should I go for it? I mean it's literally nothing. I spent more than $187 a month just stopping at 7-11 before work. I could cut back on that. Worst case scenario I don't like it and sell it taking a small loss. The options I chose are fully decked out. 115hp motor with power steering, stainless steel, t-top, VHF radio, live well, auto bilge pump, etc. It's head over heels compared to my old center console jon boat.
Only thing I didn't add was their pedestal seat for the front deck. It looked like trash and I want to buy a good comfy one that reclines and has lumbar support and stuff.
Pic related is similar to what I'd be getting but white hull. May remove the stainless steel package as I don't really like he railing.
