Plus there's the whole contrarian thing 4chan generally has, where the mainstream opinions are disagreed upon, and often these people just take the opposite opinion because they dislike "normalfags".
It makes people think they are superior to the general population because they don't have much else to be proud of.
Same reason there's loads of people with conservative christian views, because reddit mostly has a liberal atheist views.
