I've never tested my stuff to the max, but I'm fairly confident it can run for about 10 hours, with my USB power pack running the recorder/external preamps and fresh 9v running my external phantom. Just the DR-40 sssshhhould run for a lot longer with the USB power but I've never tested that.
Anyway - recording sounds great! You're a madman btw, leaving it out like that all night/day! Also did you leave little snacks near the recorder again? There's all kinds of shuffling about at the beginning. The sunrise/morning part is nice too with everything changing and the frogs starting up. I can 100% tell what stage the sunrise/morning is at just by the sound - you can really tell when morning hits and it starts to warm up. Sweet stuff! I haven't been /out/recording/ in a couple weeks and I'm really getting the bite now!! I gotta start hitting my To Do list.
