Anyways OP. For me I would want to have around $10,000 USD if I was going to to the whole thing. The PCT people recommend at least 8K or something.
As for the gear itself. Well you do the math. This is definitely something I'd consider $300 boots for, so those, $300 pack maybe, tent, after it all added up maybe $2000-$2500 for good gear if you had absolutely nothing to start with.
