Hey I've got some questions, A few years ago I decided to grow some lemon trees from store bought lemons.
Its been about 4 years now, maybe five years now and theyre doing well, a lot of foliage, looking pretty strong, but haven't seen them flower yet.
I'm aware that some store bought fruit may be from grafted trees, and some might be F1 hybrids, I'm not sure if that is the case with mine, And i'm not fully informed of the extent in which this hinders the plant's development. I've heard from many different sources that, they may produce fruit, that they might be weak, that they will never produce fruit, or that they will, but it might be stunted, a lot of the info i came across seemed to be rather mixed, so i'm not exactly sure what to think.
I would be more than happy to at least get an ornamental tree out of this.
To anyone who is knowledgeable about this, ive got some questions;
1) is there a chance these plants will produce at all?
2) will they at least flower? Do offspring from grafted or hybridized trees flower?
3) what could be the reason for not flowering after 4 to 5 years? lack of fertilization? still too young?
4) if they do produce, what can one expect? hard, stunted, useless fruit? or just "not ideal" as some sources claim.
Thanks to anyone who answers.
