Not typically an /out/ guy but I wanted something to do for the summer so I'm turning a side "garden" at my dad's house into something that actually looks nice. I've never really done gardening before so I'm pretty much just guessing everything at this point. I just finished removing all the plants that were there but the root systems are pretty over run. Any advice on how much of the rooting I need to damage/take out to keep the plants from growing back?
This is another garden we have at our house and the plants are the same to what I've removed plus a couple ferns. I'll also post what I'm working on so you have a better idea what I'm dealing with.
