I need a better solution for these hydroponic pepper plants. Last year they grew in 3-1/2 then 5 gallon buckets in net lids. By the time they were fruiting they needed water twice per week and they couldn’t support themselves. When they fell over the roots were damaged and they began to die.
In order to add water the lids have to come off, which disturbs the large plants. Is there a better method to grow plants this large so that they can be trained to supports and still easily watered? In healthy times the roots were enough to fill a 5 gallon bucket and displace over 1 gallon of volume on the bucket. Most hydroponic information I see online is for pathetically small plants and these peppers are huge.
