I guess essentially an ideal place would be a national park/state forest and go deep innawoods, WAY off trails, if you're serious about it you don't need to puss out and go back where you came.
Don't do it on private property, it's just not cool and maybe leave some notes in the surrounding area letting anyone who might see your corpse what they're in for when they get to your 'campsite'.
