Something related. I know a guy who lived out of a van for a year of college. It was actually a pretty big brain move in some ways. Paid €50 for his on-campus parking permit for the year and that was his total accommodation costs while everyone else was forking out thousands on rent in dorms and houses nearby. He had the van retrofitted with a bed, sink, shower, hob, microwave, heater etc.
He used to get a bit of hassle from campus security but he kept to himself and didn't make a nuisance of himself so after a while they left him alone.
He always said it was a great idea and that he saved so much money but I'd imagine it was cold as fuck during the winter months, he seemed to get sick a lot.
