>>1929691Winter is rainy season here in Washington. The sap goes down on the trees, and there's plenty of fresh stormwood to pick through.
I'm learning to make my own bows. I split and shape billets for limbs, bend them, and set them to cure for the spring. Spend dry days on the motorbike, wet ones in the shop. Then, in March, the salmon run every two years. Harvest as much as I can (I declined tribal membership), and smoke them as I work on the first planting.
Ideally, I'll crank out 5-10 bows and about 30 lbs of fish for the next winter. I was going to try hunting this year too, but messed up my back at the 9-5.
Unrelated to /out/, I also build furniture and knit during the winter. I want to do a nice fisherman's sweater, but don't think I'm good enough for that much cabling. Also two bedroom sets, one to sell one for home---provided milled lumber goes down soon. I refuse to charge $250 for a fucking nightstand, but when materials alone are approaching $80?
