If your plant has enough length and development up top, then you can cut it just below a node, remove the leaves and stick it into water, new roots should form.
if the plant is too short you can try to wait it out and let it grow a bit before you trasnplant, so even if you wait it gives you chance to transplant.
I would mainly keep a keen eye on how hydrated the plant seems.
If it starts to dry up I would cut the stem and put it in water.
