>>2833703>>2833707I recently heard that lawns are a holdover from medeival times. Initially, it was beneficial to have vast, open fields surrounding a castle so you could see any trouble approaching. Then later on the aristocracy in Europe maintained lawns as a flex, since maintaining grounds was super expensive and labor intensive. Eventually the every-man could afford his own little slice of land and luxury, and he imitated the example the rich set. Basically everyone is just doing it cuz the guy before them did it, long ago forgetting WHY we do it.
Lawns are dumb, but it was neat learning why we even have them.
