>>2507970>be me, 13 year old homeschooled girl who spent all her time wandering around the woods and climbing trees in her suburban neighborhoods surrounding woodland> keep running into thin middle aged woman when im out of trail, sometimes accompanied by her newborn in a sling and her toddler running after her>eventually talk to her and find out she has 2 masters degrees, 1 in ecology and 1 in marine biology>she lives a few blocks from me and goes out by the river foraging for mushrooms > i wanna learn from her, and after a couple times just walking along with her , sometimes holding her baby while she climbs trees and crosses logs remarcably nimbly, she anks if i want to start a more formalized mentorship in plants and herbs of the area>whenever we get back from our walks with edible berries or mushrooms we go to her house and cook them together and share the food with the kiddos>i dont pay but its informally kinda expected that i watch the kids, both when we're out together and whenever she needs a babysitter>i actually think i saved one of their lives once, when he was 4 he was running too fast to see it and almost fell several yards down a bank headfirst before i grabbed him from behind>i also once saved the younger boy from choking on some trail mix via a Heimlich maneuveri miss her, lost touch after my family moved when i was 16. But for a few years we saw each other almost every day, and she taught me almost everything i know.
