>>2043725I'm still not sold on the idea of a "Bushcraft Knife" making a whole lot of sense.
I figure for 99% of things a small folding pocket knife is the most convenient.
Oh? You want to process firewood? Then take a fucking Gerber Pack Hatchet. Things are tiny and work really well, I own one. It's only 9.5 inches long and weighs 21 oz. It's full tang, it's just a solid chunk of steel with plastic grips. Indestructible. Perfect for dealing with any small-ish firewood you'd want to process.
>But something like a Victorinox Bushcraft Knife only weighs 8 oz!Yeah, and no knife will ever take the abuse that a hatchet can. It's also easier to sharpen a hatchet because you don't expect a hatchet to be razor sharp - you do expect your knife to be razor sharp. You can keep your hatchet functionally sharp for processing wood with no issues. It will take a lot more effort to keep your bushcraft knife razor sharp after batoning wood for hours.
Small folding pocket knife + camp hatchet. That's what I think.
