I have a Vango Odyssey which while having it's internal tension bands and not being total cheap crap it's in no way what you would call a storm tent but a storm it met that night on a hillside over looking the Atlantic, the kind that had the local ferry heading back to Oban sharpish instead of over-nighting like usual. We had managed to pitch tents and get some burgers & beers down us gullets before the blitzkrieg in a gale arrived. Inside I could usually stand up in the tent but that night I could feel the tent roof was rapping down on my head whilst I was sat up on the air bed skinning up. The tent must have been almost flat with the beating it took. I wasn't sure where or even if I was going to wake up in the morning as I gripped onto my dog until blacking out. And hell fire I was glad when I did, unscathed and where it had been pitched the week only got better and better. four nights later and it was close to Balearic the day we left.
