Probably pic related. Bought it in 1985 or so for $100 at a pawn shop and have used it extensively since. Haven't bought another big centerfire hunting rifle, haven't needed one. It's so-so with factory ammo, about 2 to 3 inches at 100 yards, but will reliably hit a quarter at 150 yards with handloads.

My deer rifle, a sporterized Arisaka in .30-06. I like mainly deer, turkey, and rabbit. I stalk when I hunt. Deer are with the rifle or a 12 gauge, depending on where I'm hunting. Rabbit are usually with my grandfather's Mossberg Ranger .410 bolt action shotgun, sometimes with a .22lr Buckmark pistol.

Hunting deer? Pic related, my .30-06 I've had since 1985 or 1986. It's a modified Arisaka, solid as a rock. I shoot handloaded ammo with 150 grain PSP bullets over 60.5 grains of H414. (Yeah, I know it's a half grain over max load. The rifle likes it to the tune of .75 MOA at 150 yards and the action's a tank.)

If hunting bunnies, I carry my grandfather's bolt action Mossberg Ranger .410. I liked it so much as a kid I bought a Mossberg bolt action 12ga for my bird gun.

If hiking/camping/canoeing/et cetera, I don't carry a firearm. I do usually carry a walking stick.
