They were great, but in hindsight if I'm going on a hike that will involve so much time wearing microspikes then I'll wear something with a stiffer sole. Probably brooks cascadias, which are more go to for more rugged/technical terrain.
>>1951436Thanks, this is a good bit heavier than my usual base weight due to it being a very shoulder seasony hike. Micro spikes and heavier clothing for the cold. My more standard 3 season kit runs around the 6lb mark.

There's no need to pair the solomid with a bivy imo, if bug pressure is high a more weight effcient and comfy solution would be polycro + sea to summit bug net, again just opinion.
I do still like mucking around with flat tarps as well, but the easy of the two shelter systems above makes them my defaults.
