>>1431748Unless your 20 volt drill is a BAMF, this sort of thing is really only useful on very thin ice (in which case why bother?). The Clam bracket thing that replaces your whole drill chuck and gives you a traditional auger style handle works well, but isn't really much faster than hand augering and costs $80, so mostly these sorts of things are for people who don't have the conditioning to use a hand auger.
Are you one of those people?
I use a hand auger when there's less than 8 inches of ice and I have an Ion for when the ice is thicker and I don't want to waste the time it takes to hand auger just to scout for the depth gradient or drill 2 holes each for a couple people.
