People go to the beach in their fucking jeans, you can't even go in the water some days because the amount of raw sewage runoff in the coastal water is too high, and the offshore oil rigs sometimes leak petroleum directly into the seawater which then creates little tar globs that wash up on the shoreline.
>>1389933Ever since the nuke plant at San Onofre shut down that part of the coast has been relatively quiet--other than the occasional beach landing by the boys at Camp Pendleton right next door, anyway. Really the best beaches I've personally seen in California don't really start to show up until you hit Cayucos and Cambria and all the way up to Big Sur and Monterey--grey skies, tall cliffs, sandy and rocky beaches both. It's beautiful up there--right and chilly just about with the holiday season creeping up now.
